PARTICULARITY OF THE SURGICAL PROCEDURE IN ELDER PEOPLE
Abstract
Life expectancy is getting longer and that is why a number of older patients who need surgical treatment increases. Due to accompanying illnesses and risks older patients need to be considered with careful ethical judgement of the necessity of the upcoming surgical procedure, interdisciplinary preparation and excelent performance of the treatment. Considering that older people have special needs, surgical procedures must be performed riskless and safely, because any complication may additionally threaten their health and life. The most important aspect/goal of surgical treatment after a qualitative postoperative care, proper analgesia, early rehabilitation and the shortest hospitalization period possible, is to send older patients back to their home environment and everyday activities as soon as possible.Downloads
