Abstract

Background. The multiple injured patient outcomes in General and teaching hospital Celje were compared to international standards. The improvement of care was observed in successive time intervals.

Methods. The data of 270 multiple injured patients were collected prospectively from 1992 to 1999. The Z and W statistics of the TRISS methodology were assessed in successive two year intervals.

Results. The values of the W (1.62) and z (0.89) statistics stress the quality of the treatment which is comparable with international standards. Since 1992 their values have constantly been improving.

Conclusions. The quality control is the basis of the trauma care improvement. The National Trauma Registry is the basic condition for further trauma service improvement on the whole Slovenian territory
